Momos@Home

on

My daughter loves momos and has been missing them since lockdown. She helped make these and we used our idly trays to steam them. Don’t mind the idly tray with it million scratches. Its over 17 years old and has made close to a lakh idly’s till date.

You Need:

  • All Purpose Flour : 2 cups. This will yield about 18 momos.
  • Water a little more than half a cup.
  • Salt.
  • A little oil.
  • The filling can be anything. I used a simple saute of finely grated carrots, cabbage and cottage cheese spiced with paprika, seasoned with salt and a little bit of garlic.

Season the flour with salt. Slowly add the water and make it into a soft dough. Rub a little oil and leave it aside for at least 30 minutes.

Make into small balls.

Roll into thin discs. Fill the stuffing and make into any shape of your choice.

Get water to a boil. You can keep two momos side by side in the idly tray. When cooked they will be stuck to each other. But you can very slowly separate the two of them.

Steam the momos for about 15 minutes.

Enjoy.
